The 12-Month Migration Fee

A free migration is real work for our team, so we ask for one fair condition. If you cancel your hosting within 12 months of a free migration, a migration fee of R950 per migrated hosting account applies. This fee reduces by one-twelfth for every full month you stay with us, and after 12 months it falls away entirely.

This is not a contract. You can leave at any time, and no fee applies after your first year.

Moving Away From WebAcumen

Free migrations apply to moves into WebAcumen only. We don't perform outgoing migrations as part of our hosting service. If you decide to leave, we will:

  • Provide one full account backup on request, free of charge, and
  • Supply your domain transfer (EPP) code and cooperate fully with your domain transfer.

If you'd like our team to handle the move to your new provider, we can do that as a paid service by proposal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the migration really free?

Yes, within our free migration limits: a same-panel move (cPanel or DirectAdmin), up to 10 IMAP email accounts, 10GB of email, and 2GB of databases. That covers the large majority of small business sites. Anything beyond that is priced upfront, before we start — see the pricing below.

Will my website go offline during the move?

No. We build and test your site on our infrastructure first, and only switch the DNS across once everything is verified. Your visitors keep seeing your site throughout.

How long does a migration take?

Most sites are moved within a few business days of receiving access. Larger or more complex sites take longer — we confirm the timeline in your migration plan, and we schedule the switchover around your business.

Do my email accounts move too?

Yes — standard IMAP mailboxes, addresses, and existing messages all come across, up to 10 accounts free. Your email addresses stay exactly the same.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. All our hosting is month to month. If you cancel within 12 months of a free migration, a migration fee applies — it shrinks every month you stay and falls away completely after a year.

Can you migrate email from Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?

Yes. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and Mimecast aren't standard IMAP mailboxes — they use their own systems and don't cleanly carry across calendars, contacts and rules the way a plain IMAP copy does — so they fall outside the free migration. We migrate them for a flat R450 per mailbox, once-off.

Will you migrate my website to another host if I leave?

We provide one full backup free of charge and your domain transfer (EPP) code. If you'd like our team to handle the actual move to your new provider, that's a paid service by proposal.

Who sets up email on my phone and computer?

You do, using our step-by-step guide. If you'd like us to do it for you, we bill at our standard hourly rate (R449/hour).
