Migrating a Microsoft Access Solution to the Web

Overview

For many years, WebAcumen developed and maintained a Microsoft Access workshop management solution for an IT repair business.

As the business grew, the client wanted to retain the familiar workflow while gaining the flexibility of a browser-based platform accessible from anywhere.

Requirement

The existing Microsoft Access application had become limited by its desktop architecture. Commercial workshop management solutions proved unnecessarily expensive and included significant functionality the client neither required nor wanted.

The objective was to modernise the existing solution without forcing the client to change established business processes.

Solution Delivered

Rather than replacing the existing system, WebAcumen migrated the Microsoft Access application into a fully web-based workshop management platform built on the Microsoft technology stack.

The solution manages the complete repair lifecycle, including client bookings, quotations, job cards, technician allocation, diagnostics, repair tracking, parts management and progress updates, while preserving the workflow the client had relied upon for years.

Outcome

The client retained a familiar business process while benefiting from a modern web-based solution that improved accessibility, maintainability and long-term scalability without requiring investment in costly third-party software.
